Since its opening in 2003, Uma Paro has been a symbol of luxury at its best. Located on a hilltop overlooking the majestic Paro valley, the Uma Paro hotel is a 15-minute drive away from Paro international airport. One of the first 5-star rated hotels in Bhutan, it has lived up to its name of UMA, which implies a Living House in Sanskrit. It offers a perfect balance of tradition and luxury, which is largely understated in a rustic fashion; incorporating indigenous healing therapies such as hot stone bath and national sports archery.

Uma Paro

Most of the rooms, with intricately carved wooden doors and windows, surround a central courtyard. The Bhukhari restaurant overlooks the forest, down into the valley. Relying on fresh produce grown in the surrounding region, it serves a deliciously wide range of eating options. COMO Shambhala Retreat is Uma Paro's holistic heart, complemented with a simple slate swimming pool, sauna and steam room, and a spectacular yoga pavilion.
