The Amankora Lodge in Punakha is a cozy place set amongst rice paddies. It used to be a farmhouse, which belonged to the former chief abbot of Bhutan prior to being converted to a world class resort. The resort remains secluded in tranquility and enjoys an amazing view of Punakha valley and surrounding Himalayan vistas. The lodge still retains the traditional charm of the old farmhouse, with the reception area being a part of it with its vegetable dyed traditional wall paintings. A unique swinging bridge covered in payer flag is the only way to access the lodge. Indeed a perfect choice of accommodation in Punakha.
The highlight of the lodge is perhaps the courtyard and its views of the valley and orchards were meals are served as well. The hotel also features a spa with mediation room, business center, multi cuisine restaurant, tour desk, laundry, tea pavilion. The lodge also maintains the old farmhouse to add the royal charm to the area.
