Built on the concepts of sustainability, Wangdue Eco-Lodge is the first eco-lodge in Bhutan. Stretching over almost three acres of ancestral land, all the structures are built using the locally available raw materials by the local expertise. In the deepest embrace of the wild lies the eight-room lodge clad in the rammed earth, wood and stones only.
It overlooks the majestic Himalayan peaks at the backdrop, the colossal Wangduephodrang Dzong (fortress) at the confluence of two rivers and the little valleys giving the ancient touch.
Owing to its huge kitchen garden space, they have a fixed menu practicing the ‘farm to plate’ concept. They prepare whatever the tray holds in their kitchen, thus, not wasting anything at all.
To unfurl the human connection hurdled by the rise of technology, the negatives of it keeping our hearts apart, eco-lodge walks that extra mile throwing out the television and internet connection in the rooms. (You will have it in the lobby!)The lodge believes that ‘we must speak within ourselves, contemplate in absolute solitude and completely immerse in the peaceful environ.’ The lodge is equipped with solar heating water, windmill generated electricity, low consumption lights, induction stove to conventional gas burners, plenty of trees, Offering plenty of cultural, traditional and environmental amenities, it is a place for the eco-travelers, families, friends and those that travel alone.
